SSLA 4 and Berkely Phorum presentations

Earlier this month, I traveled to the University of Washington to give a talk at the 4th Sound Systems of Latin America (SSLA 4), where I presented my ongoing work on “Final sonorant consonant devoicing in Mayan and Zapotec.” The campus and fall leaves were beautiful, and it was great to hear from and connect with other p-siders working, largely, on laryngeal phenomena.

A week later, I got to visit UC Berkeley to give a talk at The Berkeley Phonetics, Phonology and Psycholinguistics Forum (“Phorum”). I presented my experimental work on domain generalization to the syllable as it relates to my acoustic study in progress. I enjoyed getting to chat with and meet some Berkeley phonologists and other grad students and hear about their research.
